PilatesPlus offers the best in therapeutic wellness, traditional fitness and classical Pilates exercise, adhering closely to the spirit of Joseph Pilates' work, in a clean, spacious and welcoming studio. The owner, Melinda Leas has over 10 years of teacher training in Pilates and fitness as well as bodywork. She is able to work safely with you and to offer you the best in healthy, fit conditioning.

What is Pilates?

Imagine an intense exercise program that you look forward to, that engages you and leaves you refreshed and alert. Pilates will do all this...and more. A 90-year old method, Pilates is an exercise system focused on flexibility with strength and control using a mat or apparatus.

There are hundreds of Pilates’ exercises to develop the body uniformly. Instead of focusing on many repetitions of each exercise, Pilates uses more precise movements, requiring proper control and form. Quality not quantity is the key to changing the body. Because your mind is required to engage with your body to perform the movements correctly, you experience a new awareness of muscle function and control. The center-of-gravity muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and buttocks are supported and strengthened, enabling the rest of the body to move freely. By addressing strength and flexibility, participants stand taller, feel stronger and achieve ease of motion in work and recreational activities.
